Clarry Conners is considering a berth in the 2015 Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) classy two-year-old Look To The Stars on March 14th after the filly stormed home to an impressive win at Warwick Farm this afternoon.
Finishing outside the places just once over her four start career so far, Look To The Stars was rated an outsider when lining up for the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) first-up on February 14th and was unable to match the late pace of subsequent winner Haptic; finishing a disappointing ninth.
Pleased with the I Am Invincible filly’s maiden race win this afternoon, Conners is confident the form and class displayed points towards a successful return to black type company in the 2015 Magic Night Stakes.
“The fence was off last start when she raced at Randwick and she was back on the inside in the Lonhro Plate,” Conners said.
“She is still learning what it is all about, she is soft in the mouth and I put the cross over nose band on today to get her to settle.
“After they had gone 100m I was happy because she relaxed and I knew she would find the line strongly.
“She can go to the fillies race a week before the Golden Slipper now (Magic Night Stakes), that is what is all about, trying to pick up some black type with these young ones.”
Debuting with a close run for second behind Racy in the Pro-Ride Maiden Plate (1000m) on December 10th, Look To The Stars returned to the paddock following another impressive effort for second behind Perignon in the TAB Rewards Plate (1200m) on December 27th.
Nominations for the 2015 Magic Night Stakes are due to be taken by the 9th of March, while a final field and barrier draw are set to be completed and released on the 11th.
