Twist Tops has returned to racing in competitive form this time and has been confirmed in the 2016 Magic Night Stakes field by trainer Kris Lees.

Debuting to racing for fourth in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on October 3rd, Twist Tops returned to the paddock after failing to fire in the Inglis Banner (1000m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day.

Resuming this time for second behind Scarlet Rain in the More Than Winning Plate (1000m) at Randwick on January 23rd, the Beneteau filly charged home to post a maiden ran win in the Inglis Classic (1200m) on February 6th.

Having placed fourth in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago, Twist Tops will leave from barrier 6 with Corey Brown in the saddle.

Calliope was a late scratching from last weekend’s Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) but is offered a great opportunity to atone from barrier 2 in the Magic Night Stakes.

Trialling well in the lead-up to her competitive debut, Calliope produced a slick late turn of foot to win the Gimcrack Stakes by two lengths.

Returning this time for a credible run for fifth in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude F (1100m), the Exceed And Excel filly will be partnered by lead Godolphin hoop James McDonald in the Magic Night Stakes.

Godolphin will launch a two-pronged attack after trainer John O’Shea also confirmed Palomino in the Magic Night Stakes field.

Brulee has appeared on course only once competitively but has stamped herself as a potential star for new trainer Peter Robl and arguably offers the horseman the best chance of a maiden stakes win in the Magic Night Stakes.

Producing a number of strong performances in barrier trials prior to her competitive debut, Brulee charged home to win the Cook’s Plumbing Supplies Maiden (1000m) on February 25th and appears primed for her black type debut.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Prompt Response will leave from the rails draw in the 2016 Magic Night Stakes, while Spright has been charged with overcoming the outside gate.
