Prompt Response remains outright favourite for success at 2016 Magic Night Stakes odds of $3 with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of clear market mover Calliope ($3.40) and Omei Sword ($7), who is yet to herald much interest.

Will Prompt Response justify favouritism and win the 2016 Magic Night Stakes or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

Calliope ($3.40)

Calliope was scratched from the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at the barriers last weekend, but is primed for a big performance and should receive the run of the race in the Magic Night Stakes from barrier 2. Debuting to racing in October for an impressive win in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m), Calliope resumed this time for a credible fifth in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude F (1100m) and has taken plenty of benefit from the run. James McDonald has been confirmed to take the ride on the filly, who should prove very hard to beat.

Twist Tops ($13)

Twist Tops has returned to racing in competitive form this time and arguably offers punters the best value for money at current $13 Magic Night Stakes odds to win or $3.80 to finish in the first three. Resuming this time for second in the More Than Winning Plate (1000m) on January 23rd, the Beneteau filly progressed to success in the Inglis Classic (1200m) before running a handy fourth in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago. Drawn well in barrier 6, Twist Tops should find a good position in transit in the Magic Night Stakes.

Prompt Response ($3)

Prompt Response is undoubtedly a chance of success in the Magic Night Stakes but will contest the race first-up and may require the hit-out to find peak condition. Having appeared on course only once competitively so far, Prompt Response charged to the fore of the field in the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day and maintained well to the line to finish second behind Concealer. Drawn on the rails, Prompt Response has been confirmed to be partnered by veteran hoop Kerrin McEvoy this weekend.
